All-new 2023 Kia Sportage PHEV arrives with 51 kilometres of electric range

The all new 2023 Kia Sportage PHEV has just been unveiled with an impressive 51 km of all-electric range. Compared with the upcoming Kia Sportage hybrid, the plug-in hybrid version gets a more powerful electric motor as well as a larger battery pack which translates into fully electric capability.

Expected in the third quarter of 2022, the new Kia Sportage PHEV has the new design and new features of the next-generation Sportage expected this year. The Kia Sportage PHEV promises exceptional range to match more interior space and improved performance and comfort which will be the calling card of the all-new Sportage family.

The 2023 Kia Sportage PHEV features a turbocharged 1.6 L inline-4 that is paired with an electric motor. Although Kia hasn't released any details about the new powertrain, we expect it to make around 261 horsepower like in the upcoming Kia Sorento PHEV. All-wheel drive will be standard.

The plug-in hybrid Sportage features a 13.8-kWh battery and 7.2-kWh onboard charger. It can be charged on a Level II charger in just a few hours, allowing it to hit the road on electric power in no time. 

Kia released a few images of the upcoming Sportage PHEV that show a brand-new interior complete with a dual dashboard screen featuring a digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen Center display. The overall design is refined and elegant while also having a distinctive tech feeling. This new interior will also be featured on the 2023 Kia Sportage with a traditional gas engine.
